Are you Ready to Rodeo? The James Madison FFA Booster Club will again partner with the San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo to sell rodeo programs at the 2020 rodeo performances. This is a major fundraiser of the FFA Booster Club and both parent and student volunteers are needed in order for this to be successful. Rodeo program sales will be the first 6 rodeo performances and the time commitment for volunteers is 2-1/2 hours at each rodeo performance. A minimum of 24 volunteers are needed, but we welcome more! Have You Been Accepted? Seniors, if you have been accepted to a college or university, please bring a copy of your acceptance letter to the AMP Administration office so that we can recognize your accomplishment on our "Con-GRAD-ulations" bulletin board. Volunteer Opportunities San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo - Bustin'-in-the-Barn There will be a new event at the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo this year that they are very excited about. They are starting an "outdoor" mutton bustin called Bustin'-in-the-Barn (BITB)! This new event will take place daily in an area adjacent to the Freeman Coliseum. This event is intended to give those children who did not make it into the lottery for the AT&T Mutton Bustin' during the Rodeo to have a chance to not only participate, but to qualify to ride in the AT&T Center on Friday, February 21st. Mutton Bustin' riders will register online and they will have several walk-up spots available each day. There will be 3 performances during weekdays at 5:00 PM, 6:00 PM and 7:00 PM. They will have 6 performances on Saturdays and Sundays and President's Day. Those times will be 1:00 PM, 2:00 PM, 3:00 PM and 5:00 PM, 6:00 PM and 7:00 PM. There will be 20 riders per performance. Every six performances is considered a bracket. The 6 winners in each bracket with have their names put into a hat and we will draw one winner to ride in the AT&T Center on February 21st. The San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo is in need of volunteers to help run this competition each day. There are any number of areas that need assistance each day, but more specifically, they need "rodeo clowns" to help in the arena. They are seeking any junior or senior FFA members who might be interested in dressing up and being their rodeo clowns in the arena. You will be the real deal! You will have to run and help get the little ones off the backs of the sheep when the don't let go and pick them up out of the dirt when they fall -- just like they do in the AT&T Center. You would need to be in full costume and make-up and they would ask you to volunteer to help for several rounds (a round is 3 performances). If you cannot be or do not wish to be a rodeo clown, they can still use as much help as they can get. Please note, this is not an official committee and you will be responsible for providing your own transportation to and from the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo. VOLUNTEER INFORMATION
