Howdy AMP families and students, The following are important events and happenings for the week of January 20th. Upcoming Events
School Holiday - January 20, 2020 Students will have no school on Monday, January 20th in observance of the Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday. "Share the Warmth" Coat Drive The James Madison FFA Chapter is sponsoring the "Share the Warmth" Coat Drive for the month of January. Donations for new or gently used women's and/or children's winter clothing of all sizes are being accepted in the AMP Administration office until January 31st. All donations will be delivered to the San Antonio Battered Women and Children's Shelter in order to keep those in need warm this winter. A flier is attached to this post with details. Are you Ready to Rodeo? The James Madison FFA Booster Club will again partner with the San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo to sell rodeo programs at the 2020 rodeo performances. This is a major fundraiser of the FFA Booster Club and both parent and student volunteers are needed in order for this to be successful. Rodeo program sales will be the first 6 rodeo performances and the time commitment for volunteers is 2-1/2 hours at each rodeo performance. A minimum of 24 volunteers are needed, but we welcome more! A volunteer training meeting will be held on Tuesday, February 4th at 6:30pm in the AMP Commons. AMP Application Period for 2020-2021 School Year is Now Open for Current 8th Graders The AMP application period for the 2020-2021 school year is open until January 27, 2020 for current 8th graders. If you have an 8th grader or know of an 8th grader that is interested in studying at the AMP next school year, they may begin the application by going to https://tinyurl.com/AMPenrollmentprocess. Kendra Scott Fundraiser Event Benefiting the Guide Dogs for the Blind Date: January 22, 2020 Time: 6:00pm to 8:00pm Location: Shops at La Cantera (only) Did you get Kendra Scott Gift Card for Christmas? Need a Valentine's Day gift for that special someone? Want 15% off your purchase while helping our Guide Dog Club? If so please come out and support our Guide Dog Club. You can call in your order or come in. Teachers and military will get 15% off your order while Our Madison and San Antonio GDB club receives 20%. Potential Beef Cattle Feeders Meeting - Monday, January 27th Mrs. McMullan will be hosting a meeting on Monday, January 27th at 6:30pm in AG125 for students and their parents that are interested in raising and exhibiting a beef cattle project next school year. Guidance and Counseling News 2020 - 2021 School Year Course Registration Process Students will be given information about course selections for the 2020-2021 school year on January 21st - January 23rd. Madison Counselors will be helping 9th -11th grade students select their courses during their English classes on the selected days listed below. Tuesday, January 21st: 11th grade students Wednesday, January 22nd: 10th grade students Thursday, January 23rd: 9th grade students On Monday, January 27th, all students can begin to enter their schedule requests into their Student/Family Portal accounts in Skyward. Instructions for entering courses into the Skyward Student/Family Portal are attached to this post. Have You Been Accepted? Seniors, if you have been accepted to a college or university, please bring a copy of your acceptance letter to the AMP Administration office so that we can recognize your accomplishment on our "Con-GRAD-ulations" bulletin board.
