Howdy AMP families and students, The following are important events and happenings for the week of May 17th. Upcoming Events
2021 AMP Awards Gala This year's AMP Awards Gala will be held on Tuesday, May 18th at 6:30pm in the AMP Arena. Due to COVID restrictions, the capacity of attendance will be limited and this will be an INVITATION ONLY event. Invitations have been sent and all students contacted that are eligible to attend. RSVPs are now closed. The annual gala is our opportunity to celebrate the many accomplishments that happened over this school year in the AMP and James Madison FFA. To name just a few, students will be recognized for their participation in Leadership Development Events, Career Development Events, Speaking Development Events, and Agriscience Fair. We will also be recognizing our Star Greenhand FFA, Chapter FFA, and Lone Star FFA Degree members along with announcing the winners of our Proficiency and Supervised Agriculture Experience awards. And money... The James Madison FFA Booster Club will be presenting scholarships to deserving graduating Seniors. Again, this will be an INVITATION ONLY event for 2021. Agriscience Fair Season is Upon Us 'Tis the season for students to become involved in Agriscience Fair research and competition. Students interested in taking part in this awesome experience need to join the following Google Classroom and GroupMe for Agriscience Fair information and resources: Google Classroom: https://classroom.google.com/c/MzM1MDkyMTg0Nzk1?cjc=2ej6kgu GroupMe: https://groupme.com/join_group/68084903/MCTbdE5J Guide Dogs for the Blind Information The first meeting of the Guide Dogs for the Blind for this summer will occur on Wednesday, June 9, 2021 at 5:00PM in the AMP Commons. Students must join the Guide Dogs for the Blind Google Classroom and watch the informational video from Mrs. McMullan before attending the meeting on June 9th. Those two resources are below: Google Classroom: https://classroom.google.com/c/MzM1NDgwODYxMjQ3?cjc=yf2seu5 Informational Video: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1sord7kh6PZ4PEMDI3CiWd9iKFKDSYJUI/view?usp=sharing TAMU Poultry Institute for Youth The Poultry Science Department at Texas A&M University - College Station will be conducting their 2021 Poultry Institute for Youth on June 15-16, 2021. The Poultry Institute for Youth will be a hybrid event combining virtual and in-person portions. Day one, June 15th, will be a virtual event with videos and live Zoom meetings. Day two, June 16th, will be in-person on the Texas A&M University campus. The Poultry Institute for Youth is open to all high school students. Registration will close on May 27, 2021. Those accepted for the in-person Day 2 portion of the institute will be notified by June 6th with a payment link for a $20 attendance fee. Senior will begin their semester exams on Thursday, May 20, 2021 and underclassmen will begin exams on Monday, May 24, 2021. Guidance and Counseling News Summer School 2021 Students interested in attending summer school can register through Skyward Family Access through June 2nd at 4:30PM. Summer school will be held in-person at L.E.E. High School. The Summer School 2021 registration packet is attached for more information. The dates of Summer School are: First Semester: June 7 - June 24, 2021 (12 days; Monday - Thursday) Second Semester: June 28 - July 16, 2021 (12 days; Monday - Thursday) Stay Connected with Us!
