Area 7 FFA Leadership Development Events Results On Wednesday, November 20th, the AMP competed in the Area 7 FFA Leadership Development Events (LDEs) in Blanco, TX. The results are as follows:

FFA Fun Night and Talent Contest - December 5th Do you have talent? Do you like to entertain audiences? If so, we have a contest for you! The James Madison FFA is having a talent contest on Thursday, December 5th beginning at 6:00pm in the AMP Commons. Pick up an entry form from the AMP Administration office and return it by 4:30pm on Wednesday, December 5th to enter the talent contest. Following the talent contest, the fun will continue with a movie night and ornament decorating. All AMP students are invited to attend. FFA Greenhand Degree Ceremony - December 9th AMP students receiving their Greenhand FFA Degree will be recognized at a ceremony on Monday, December 9th at 6:30pm in conjunction with the FFA Booster Club General Meeting. Following the ceremony, there will be a reception for the students and their parents. December FFA Booster Club General Meeting The next monthly meeting of the FFA Booster Club will be Monday, December 9th at 6:30pm in the AMP Commons. All parents/guardians of AMP students are encouraged to attend the Booster Club meeting. Are you Ready to Rodeo? The James Madison FFA Booster Club will again partner with the San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo to sell rodeo programs at the 2020 rodeo performances. This is a major fundraiser of the FFA Booster Club and both parent and student volunteers are needed in order for this to be successful. Rodeo program sales will be the first 6 rodeo performances and the time commitment for volunteers is 2-1/2 hours at each rodeo performance. A minimum of 24 volunteers are needed, but we welcome more! A volunteer training meeting will be held on Tuesday, February 4th at 6:30pm in the AMP Commons. AMP Application Period for 2020-2021 School Year is Now Open for Current 8th Graders The AMP application period for the 2020-2021 school year is open until January 27, 2020 for current 8th graders. If you have an 8th grader or know of an 8th grader that is interested in studying at the AMP next school year, they may begin the application by going to https://tinyurl.com/AMPenrollmentprocess. Guidance and Counseling News 1st Semester Exam Exemption Policy The semester exam exemption application process will take place through Student Skyward Access this year. Students can complete the online application process between 6:00am on Tuesday, December 10th through 11:59pm on Wednesday, December 11th. Any student that does not apply by the deadline will not be eligible for an exemption. Attached to this post are the eligibility requirements for exam exemptions and instructions on how to apply. Have You Been Accepted? Seniors, if you have been accepted to a college or university, please bring a copy of your acceptance letter to the AMP Administration office so that we can recognize your accomplishment on our "Con-GRAD-ulations" bulletin board. Veterinary Enrichment Summer Camp at Texas A&M University Application Period: December 1, 2019 - January 17, 2020 Texas A&M is happy to announce that planning for the 2020 Texas A&M University Veterinary Enrichment Camp is underway. The 2020 camp will be held July 21-24, on the College Station campus. If you are a current sophomore or junior in high school who might be interested, please take advantage of this opportunity. The online application will open on December 1st and the deadline to apply is Friday, January 17 at 5:00pm. Fundraiser Smoked Turkey Breasts The fundraiser smoked turkey breasts that were produced by the AMP Food Processing students will be available for pickup on Monday, November 18th from 4:15pm to 5:30pm in the Meats laboratory located on the first floor of the K-Building. Ford Driving Skills for Life Texas FFA members are encouraged to participate in the Ford Driving Skills for Life online driving academy. Teen drivers will be challenged, and encouraged, to complete the online Academy between November 11 – December 13, 2019. This is a simple online course which encourages safer student drivers. After completing the course, students will receive a “CERTIFICATE OF COMPLETION.” Scan or email the completed certificate to the Texas FFA Foundation ([email protected]) to be entered for a weekly prize. Each week Texas FFA will draw a winner for those who have completed the online academy! Alamo District FFA Leadership Development Events (LDEs) Results On Thursday, November 7th, AMP students competed in the first level of competition at the Alamo District FFA LDEs held at the Agriscience Magnet Program Complex. There were more than 80 AMP students that competed in 13 different LDEs. We are excited to announce that 9 teams are advancing to the Area 7 FFA LDEs that will take place at Blanco High School on Wednesday, November 20th. This month's chapter FFA meeting will feature America's favorite past time, Dodgeball! FFA Booster Club General Meeting and Major Show Entry Night The FFA Booster Club will be holding the next general meeting on Monday, November 11th at 6:30pm in the AMP Commons. All parents/guardians of AMP students are encouraged to attend. This will also be the final opportunity for students to submit entry forms and payments for the major livestock shows. Low Cost Pet Vaccination Clinic The James Madison FFA Chapter will be hosting a low cost pet vaccination clinic for dogs and cats on Saturday, November 16th from 9:00am to 12:00 noon. The vaccination clinic will be held in the main parking lot of James Madison High School. Please see the flier posted below for available vaccines and pricing. Fall Gala Social - Tickets on Sale Now! National FFA Convention & Expo Last week, ten FFA members traveled to Indianapolis, Indiana to attend the 92nd National FFA Convention & Expo and represent the state of Texas to compete for national championship titles in the Agricultural Issues Forum event, the Agriscience Fair competition, and the Agriculture Education Proficiency. All of the students finished at the top of their contests and the results are as follows:
Upcoming District and Area FFA Leadership Development Events Competitions For the past two months, AMP students have been training and working towards the FFA Leadership Development Events (LDEs) to be held next month. The first level of competition is the Alamo District FFA LDEs to be held on Thursday, November 7th at the Agriscience Magnet Program Complex. Students that qualify at the Alamo District FFA LDEs will advance to compete in the Area 7 FFA LDEs that will take place at Blanco High School on Wednesday, November 20th. James Madison FFA Dodgeball Tournament The next chapter FFA meeting for students of the AMP will happen on Monday, November 11th at 4:30pm in the AMP Arena. This month's chapter FFA meeting will feature America's favorite past time, Dodgeball! FAFSA All seniors planning to go to college/university should complete the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) to see if you qualify for grants, loans and/or institution scholarships. The FAFSA opened on October 1st and is available at www.fafsa.gov. If you encounter any problems or need assistance, we are here to help you complete the application on Wednesday, November 6 from 4:20 – 7:00 p.m. in the Madison Library.
