Guidance and Counseling News Exam Exemptions Now that the exemption window is closed students can check their exemption status in Skyward. It is important that students continue to check their exemption status daily. Exemptions will be revoked if a student fails to meet any of the criteria after the exemption has been approved. In Skyward, the exemptions will return to a pending status and the teacher will tell the student the exemption has been revoked. Please remember that the student is required to be present for the exam if they are exempt, unless the student is excused for school business. Fall 2019 Semester Exam Schedule Final exams for the Fall 2019 semester will take place on December 17th through December 20th. Students will be released at 1:30pm on both December 19th and December 20th. Attached to this post is a daily schedule for the semester exams. Second Semester Information for Parents/Students When students return from the Holiday Break on January 6, 2020, they will need to access their 2nd Semester Schedule through Skyward. Students will be required to show this schedule to each teacher to enter class on January 6, 2020. If for some reason a student cannot access their schedule, the student should come to the front foyer of James Madison HS after 8:00 am on January 6, 2020 where the counselors will be available to access the student’s schedule. Have You Been Accepted? Seniors, if you have been accepted to a college or university, please bring a copy of your acceptance letter to the AMP Administration office so that we can recognize your accomplishment on our "Con-GRAD-ulations" bulletin board. Volunteer Opportunities San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo - Bustin'-in-the-Barn There will be a new event at the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo this year that they are very excited about. They are starting an "outdoor" mutton bustin called Bustin'-in-the-Barn (BITB)! This new event will take place daily in an area adjacent to the Freeman Coliseum. This event is intended to give those children who did not make it into the lottery for the AT&T Mutton Bustin' during the Rodeo to have a chance to not only participate, but to qualify to ride in the AT&T Center on Friday, February 21st. Mutton Bustin' riders will register online and they will have several walk-up spots available each day. There will be 3 performances during weekdays at 5:00 PM, 6:00 PM and 7:00 PM. They will have 6 performances on Saturdays and Sundays and President's Day. Those times will be 1:00 PM, 2:00 PM, 3:00 PM and 5:00 PM, 6:00 PM and 7:00 PM. There will be 20 riders per performance. Every six performances is considered a bracket. The 6 winners in each bracket with have their names put into a hat and we will draw one winner to ride in the AT&T Center on February 21st. The San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo is in need of volunteers to help run this competition each day. There are any number of areas that need assistance each day, but more specifically, they need "rodeo clowns" to help in the arena. They are seeking any junior or senior FFA members who might be interested in dressing up and being their rodeo clowns in the arena. You will be the real deal! You will have to run and help get the little ones off the backs of the sheep when the don't let go and pick them up out of the dirt when they fall -- just like they do in the AT&T Center. You would need to be in full costume and make-up and they would ask you to volunteer to help for several rounds (a round is 3 performances). If you cannot be or do not wish to be a rodeo clown, they can still use as much help as they can get. Please note, this is not an official committee and you will be responsible for providing your own transportation to and from the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo. VOLUNTEER INFORMATION
