Alamo District FFA Leadership Development Events (LDEs) Results On Thursday, November 7th, AMP students competed in the first level of competition at the Alamo District FFA LDEs held at the Agriscience Magnet Program Complex. There were more than 80 AMP students that competed in 13 different LDEs. We are excited to announce that 9 teams are advancing to the Area 7 FFA LDEs that will take place at Blanco High School on Wednesday, November 20th. Results are as follows for the Alamo District FFA LDEs: Agriculture Advocacy – 1st place and 2nd place Agricultural Issues – 1st place and 4th place Jr. Creed Speaking – 1st place and 5th place Sr. Creed Speaking - 4th place and 8th place Jr. Chapter Conducting – 3rd place Sr. Chapter Conducting – 3rd place Job Interview – 3rd place Jr. Quiz – 2nd place Sr. Quiz – 1st place Public Relations – 2nd place and 4th place Radio Broadcasting – 2nd place and 4th place Jr. Skills – 1st place and 2nd place Sr. Skills – 1st place and 3rd place James Madison FFA Dodgeball Tournament The next chapter FFA meeting for students of the AMP will happen on Monday, November 11th at 4:30pm in the AMP Arena. This month's chapter FFA meeting will feature America's favorite past time, Dodgeball! FFA Booster Club General Meeting and Major Show Entry Night The FFA Booster Club will be holding the next general meeting on Monday, November 11th at 6:30pm in the AMP Commons. All parents/guardians of AMP students are encouraged to attend. This will also be the final opportunity for students to submit entry forms and payments for the major livestock shows. Low Cost Pet Vaccination Clinic The James Madison FFA Chapter will be hosting a low cost pet vaccination clinic for dogs and cats on Saturday, November 16th from 9:00am to 12:00 noon. The vaccination clinic will be held in the main parking lot of James Madison High School. Please see the flier posted below for available vaccines and pricing. Fall Gala Social - Tickets on Sale Now! Tickets are on sale now for the annual James Madison FFA Booster Club Fall Gala Social to be held on Saturday, November 16th from 6:00pm to 11:00pm at the Voigt Center in Hollywood Park. Tickets are $40.00 per person and include dinner, open bar, live and silent auctions, music, and much more. Tickets can be purchased ONLINE or at the following Booster Club events: November 11th - James Madison FFA Chapter Meeting/Dodgeball Tournament and FFA Booster Club General Meeting. AMP Application Period for 2020-2021 School Year is Now Open for Current 8th Graders The AMP application period for the 2020-2021 school year is open until January 27, 2020 for current 8th graders. If you have an 8th grader or know of an 8th grader that is interested in studying at the AMP next school year, they may begin the application by going to https://tinyurl.com/AMPenrollmentprocess. Guidance and Counseling News AMP College and Career Fair - November 22nd The annual AMP College and Career Fair will be held on Friday, November 22nd from 11:30am to 2:30pm in the AMP Complex. Post-secondary representatives from Texas universities, colleges and technical schools will be in attendance to provide AMP students with information about educational opportunities in agriculture after high school. Representatives will also be in attendance from agencies and employers to share career opportunities with AMP students in the areas of agriculture. Expected colleges/universities to be in attendance are: West Texas A&M University, Angelo State University, Abilene Christian University, Texas A&M University - Kingsville, Tarleton State University, Sul Ross State University, Texas A&M University - College Station, Iowa State University, Sam Houston State University, Texas State University, Texas A&M University - Commerce, Blinn College, Palo Alto College, Vernon College, South Texas Vocational Technical Institute, and more! Scholarship Opportunity Bexar County Jr. Livestock Show Scholarship Deadline: November 14, 2019 The Bexar County Junior Livestock Show (BCJLS) will be awarding up to (12) twelve $500.00 scholarships at the upcoming 57th Annual Auction of Champions to current year graduating seniors. Completed applications must be received or postmarked no later than November 14, 2019 in order to be considered for this scholarship opportunity.
