James Madison FFA Members Compete in Area 7 FFA Leadership Development Events On Wednesday, November 17th, AMP students competed in the next level of competition at the Area 7 FFA LDEs. We had 23 AMP students that competed in 8 different LDEs. We are excited to announce that 2 teams are advancing to the Texas FFA LDEs that will take place on December 3rd and 4th at Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, TX. Results are as follows for the Area 7 FFA LDEs: Agriculture Advocacy – 5th place Jr. Creed Speaking – 6th place Sr. Creed Speaking - 2nd place (Advancing to State competition) Job Interview – 11th place Sr. Quiz – 9th place Radio Broadcasting – 11th place Jr. Skills – 2nd place (Advancing to State competition) Sr. Skills – 3rd place 2022 North East Ag Fair Website is LIVE! The website and resources have been updated for the 2022 North East Ag Fair scheduled to be held January 7-8, 2022. The website address is https://www.northeastagfair.com/. Besides the opportunity for students that are raising livestock for the major livestock shows to participate, we will be hosting the other competitions to include the Creative Arts competition, BBQ Cook-Off, Ag Mechanics Build-Off, and Fastest Torch in the West. In addition, we are having an online Premium Auction to benefit eligible exhibitors of the North East Ag Fair. Students wishing to compete in the 2022 North East Ag Fair can find the Premium Booklet and entry forms online at: https://northeastagfair.weebly.com/exhibitors.html. The deadline to enter all competitions at the 2022 North East Ag Fair is Friday, December 3, 2021. The FFA Booster Club is seeking business and family sponsors for the North East Ag Fair. Sponsorship levels are available from $500 to $2500. Potential sponsors can find out more information about the sponsorship opportunities by going to: https://northeastagfair.weebly.com/sponsors.html. The FFA Booster Club is also putting out an ALL CALL to interested retail vendors that would like to sell their goods and/or services at the 2022 North East Ag Fair. So if you or someone you know would like to be a vendor, more information and a registration packet can be found at: https://northeastagfair.weebly.com/vendors.html. Also a few sponsorships are available for the custom trophy belt buckles that will be awarded this year at the 2022 North East Ag Fair. The sponsorship cost is $200.00 per buckle and the following buckles are available for sponsorship:

FFA Greenhand Degree Ceremony - December 9th AMP students receiving their Greenhand FFA Degree will be recognized at a ceremony on Thursday, December 9th at 6:30PM in conjunction with the FFA Booster Club General Meeting. Following the ceremony, there will be a reception for the students and their parents. December FFA Booster Club General Meeting The next monthly meeting of the FFA Booster Club will be Thursday, December 9th at 6:30PM in the AMP Commons. All parents/guardians of AMP students are highly encourage to attend the Booster Club meeting as we prepare for the 2022 North East Ag Fair. FFA Chapter T-shirts have Arrived! The 2021-2022 commemorative James Madison FFA Chapter t-shirts have been delivered and are ready for those students that have paid their FFA membership fee to pick up. Students can come by the AMP Administration Office between 8:15 AM to 8:45 AM or 4:20 PM to 4:45 PM to pick up their t-shirt. If a student has not paid their FFA membership fee, students can pay the $20.00 membership fee and receive the commemorative t-shirt once the fee is paid. Guidance and Counseling News Extended After Hours Virtual Tutoring NEISD is providing extended after hours tutoring for high school students from 6:00PM to 8:00PM on Monday through Thursday. Tutoring is available in the following core courses: English I, II, III & IV, Algebra I & II, Geometry, Pre-Calculus, OnRamps Pre-Calculus, AP Statistics, Biology, Chemistry, and Physics. Click HERE to access the extended after hours virtual tutoring information and instructions. 1st Semester Exam Exemptions and Schedule Exams for the 1st Semester will be given on Tuesday, December 14th through Friday, December 17th. A detailed exam schedule can be found attached to this blog post. Students may exempt up to 3 semester exams in courses that they have an average of an 85 or higher (please see attachment to this blog for exam exemption guidelines). Students will request exam exemptions through the Skyward Student Access application beginning at 7:00AM on December 6th through 4:30PM on December 8th. Scholarship Opportunities National FFA Scholarship Program Deadline: January 5, 2022 The National FFA Scholarship Program is now open. Whether students are planning on attending a specialized training program or seeking a four-year degree, the National FFA Scholarship Program has opportunities for all. Scholarships support FFA high school seniors and collegiate members as well as non-FFA students. Just one application is required for multiple scholarship opportunities totaling close to $2 million dollars. Everything students need to successfully complete the application can be found on the scholarship website. The scholarship application closes on January 5, 2022. Access the scholarship application and resources at FFA.org/Scholarships. Texas Farm Credit Scholarship Program Deadline: January 15, 2022 Texas Farm Credit will present $5,000 postsecondary scholarships to ten future ag leaders. Winners will be announced in May 2022. To qualify, an applicant must be a high school senior, be a member of FFA or 4-H, plan to pursue a college degree, submit a current high school transcript, resume, and essay (prompt at link above). Click the link above in the title for further details. Sam J. Riklin Rotary Diploma Plus Program Deadline: January 24, 2022 The purpose of this program is to provide financial assistance to students who are at risk of not graduating from High School due to financial concerns or hardships. This is needs based and is not based on your academic performance. If you are selected, you will receive a $1,000 stipend during your senior year in high school. Qualifications 1) You must be classified as a junior during the 2021-2022 school year. 2) Attend a high school in Bexar County. Corn Producers / Corn Growers Scholarships Deadline: January 31, 2022 Students can apply to scholarships from both the Texas Corn Producers (TCP) and the National Corn Growers Association (NCGA) with one application.
