AMP Happenings for the Week of February 1st

Howdy AMP families and students,

The following are important events and happenings for the week of February 1st.

  • Tuesday, February 2, 2021 - James Madison FFA Booster Club General Meeting at 6:30PM via Zoom
  • Friday, February 5, 2021 - Deadline for Premium Auction Thank You Letters turned in to AMP Administration Office
February JM FFA Booster Club General Meeting - February 2nd
The next monthly meeting of the FFA Booster Club will be Tuesday, February 2nd at 6:30pm via Zoom. All parents/guardians of AMP students are encouraged to join us online for the Booster Club meeting.

Deadline - Thank You Letters for North East Ag Fair Premium Auction
All students that participated in the Premium Auction should have received the list of donors for their projects and information on writing and turning in Thank You letters to the AMP Administration Office by Friday, February 5, 2021.

NEISD Magnet Common Application Open for 2021-2022
The NEISD Magnet Common Application for the 2021-2022 school year is now available for interested 8th graders to apply for the Agriscience Magnet Program (AMP). Applications may be submitted until February 12, 2021. Go to https://tinyurl.com/AMPenrollmentprocess for more information. 

The AMP has also made available a virtual information session on the 
Agriscience Magnet Program YouTube Channel.

​Guidance and Counseling News
2021-2022 Course Selections
We are beginning the process of course selection for the 2021-2022 school year.  
Students will be able to enter courses into Skyward from Monday, January 25th through Friday, February 19th.  Click HERE to use the following materials to help with planning for the 2021-2022 school year.

  5. 2021-2022 NEISD Course Catalog (Please note that NOT all courses in the catalog are offered at Madison, so please only choose courses from the Madison Course Selection Sheet)

AMP Junior (11th Grade) Conferences
It’s time for MANDATORY Junior Conferences! Mrs. Guerrero, AMP Counselor, will begin meeting with each of you individually via Zoom for approximately 20 minutes to review your graduation plan, talk about course requests, and plan for your future.  If you are an in-person student, you are welcomed to come to her AMP office during your scheduled Junior conference. If you choose to meet during a scheduled class period, you are responsible for any missed work during the 20 minutes conference.

FREE SAT EXAM for 11th Graders
AMP Juniors, this is your last call to sign-up for the FREE in-school SAT exam on March 24, 2021 at Madison High School. Juniors must sign-up by February 16th to take advantage of this FREE opportunity. Sign-up by using the following link: SAT School Day Registration Link

ATTENTION 9th and 10th Grade AMP Students
Do you need help completing your course requests for the 2021-2022 school year? If so, please sign-up for a day/ time to meet with Mrs. Guerrero, AMP Counselor, to go over your choices for your schedule. The last day to enter your course selections into Skyward is on February 19, 2021.

Scholarship Opportunities
​​​Capital Farm Credit Scholarship Program
Deadline: February 26, 2021
Capital Farm Credit will be awarding two (2) one-time $1,000 scholarships to 2021 graduating Seniors. See the attached scholarship application for more information.

MLK Scholarship
Deadline: February 26, 2021

The 2021 Martin Luther King Jr. Scholarship application is now available! This scholarship helps to fund a portion of the college tuition of several deserving students, regardless of race or ethnicity. This scholarship can be applied to any 2 or 4-year institution as well as technical/trade schools.

To be eligible students must:
·       Be a graduating senior from a school in Bexar County
·       Be a Bexar County resident for one year and a U.S. Citizen
·       Have a minimum, cumulative GPA of 2.5 or equivalent (80 or higher)

San Antonio A&M Club Foundation Opportunity Scholarship Award
Deadline: March 4, 2021

The 2021 San Antonio A&M Club Foundation Opportunity Award Scholarship Application is now available!

The San Antonio A&M Club, through its Foundation, awards $12,000 academic scholarships to high school students from Bexar County who have been unconditionally accepted to Texas A&M University at either the College Station or Galveston Campus. Eligible students must reside in Bexar County or attend high school in Bexar County at the time of graduation.

San Antonio Education Partnership Scholarship
Deadline: March 31, 2021
If you're staying local for college and attending one of the Alamo Colleges, UTSA, Texas A&M San Antonio, Incarnate Word, Our Lady of the Lake, St. Mary's, or Trinity, then please consider applying for the SAEP Scholarship! Scholarship awards range from $600-$1500. See the link above for additional details and to apply!

Alamo Colleges Foundation Scholarship Program
Deadline: April 5, 2021
The Alamo College Foundation is currently accepting scholarship applications to the following colleges for academic year 2021-2022: San Antonio College, St. Philip's College, Palo Alto College, Northwest Vista College, and Northeast Lakeview College.
 
Attached is a flier with scholarship application information, as well as information about the San Antonio Livestock Exposition (S.A.L.E.) scholarship opportunity for students interested in the Agriculture Sciences Program at Palo Alto College. To be considered for the S.A.L.E. scholarship, students must major in the Agriculture Sciences Program at Palo Alto College.
