Howdy AMP families and students, The following are important events and happenings for the week of October 5th. Upcoming Events
Phase 3 Begins on Monday, October 5th NEISD is will be moving to Phase 3 of its school phase-in plan on October 5th allowing up to 15 students per classroom. Phase 3 will also begin the blended instruction model with students that are on campus receiving in-person instruction from their teachers and students remaining in distance learning receiving instruction virtually. Students that are on campus during the instructional day will be rotating to their assigned classes. AMP students that are attending Phase 3 instruction on campus will be allowed to enter the AMP building at 8:00 AM and may utilize the seating in the AMP Commons until the instructional day begins. AMP Complex Speed Limit, Traffic Pattern, and Student Parking As Phase 3 begins, it can be expected that the volume of traffic on the AMP Complex will increase. All drivers (parents, guardians, students) are reminded that the speed limit on the AMP Complex is 10 MPH. Drivers should be attentive when driving in and around the livestock project centers for pedestrian traffic and should only park vehicles in appropriate parking areas. Also, please stay to the right of the circular roadway between the swine and lamb project centers when entering and exiting the livestock project centers. Lastly, student parking during the school year will be in the parking lot that is adjacent to the lamb project center. We will begin selling AMP Parking Permits beginning this week of school and the parking permit application is attached to this post or may be picked up in the AMP Administration Office. The following guidelines will be used to issue AMP Parking Permits:
National FFA SAE Grant Opportunity Do you need financial assistance to help start or expand your Supervised Agricultural Experience (SAE) program? FFA membership must be current, applicants must be in grades 7-12 and must demonstrate financial need. The SAE Grant application is open now through Monday, November 16th, at 7:00 PM CDT. Students can access the application on the SAE Grant webpage at: https://www.ffa.org/participate/grants-and-scholarships/sae-grants/ Non-Credit of Courses Due to Excessive Absences Mrs. Maze, JMHS Attendance Assistant Principal, sent an email to parents/guardians this past week if their student has excessive absences for this semester and currently has lost credit for courses due to lack of attendance. The Texas Education Code requires that students in grades 9 - 12 must be in attendance of a course for a minimum of 90% of the time in which the course meets. The A / B Day schedule this year has courses meeting approximately 50 times a semester meaning a student is only allowed 5 absences per course to be within the 90% rule. For each absence after 5, students must recover 1 hour of seat time per absence (6 absences = 1 hour seat time required; 7 absences = 2 hours seat time required; 8 absences = 3 hours seat time required; etc.). Parents/guardians my view specific attendance details by course for their student through Skyward Family Access. This school year, students will have three options for recovering seat time due to excessive absences. Those options are:
