Area 7 FFA Leadership Development Events Results This past week, the AMP competed virtually in the Area 7 FFA Leadership Development Events (LDEs). The results are as follows:

December FFA Chapter Meeting and Talent Contest - December 8th Do you have talent? Do you like to entertain audiences? If so, we have a contest for you! The James Madison FFA is having a talent contest on Tuesday, December 8th as part of the December FFA Chapter meeting being held via Zoom. The deadline to submit an entry form online is Friday, December 4th at 4:30PM (click HERE to enter). Talent contestants will need to be available to film their talent act on Monday, December 7th beginning at 4:00PM in the AMP building. December JM FFA Booster Club General Meeting The next monthly meeting of the FFA Booster Club will be Tuesday, December 8th at 6:30pm via Zoom. All parents/guardians of AMP students are encouraged to join us online for the Booster Club meeting. 2021 North East Ag Fair - January 8-9, 2021 We are proud to announce that the 2021 North East Ag Fair scheduled to be held January 8-9, 2021. Besides the opportunity for students that are raising livestock for the major livestock shows to participate, we will be hosting the other competitions we were not able to have in 2020 to include the Creative Arts competition, BBQ Cook-Off, Ag Mechanics Build-Off, and Fastest Torch in the West. In addition, we are adding an online Premium Auction to the 2021 North East Ag Fair for eligible exhibitors. Students wishing to compete in the 2021 North East Ag Fair can find the Premium Booklet and entry forms online at: https://northeastagfair.weebly.com/exhibitors.html. The deadline to enter all competitions at the 2021 North East Ag Fair is Friday, December 4, 2020. The FFA Booster Club is seeking business and family sponsors for the 2021 North East Ag Fair. Sponsorship levels are available from $500 to $2500. NEISD Magnet Common Application Open for 2021-2022 The NEISD Magnet Common Application for the 2021-2022 school year is now available for interested 8th graders to apply for the Agriscience Magnet Program (AMP). Applications may be submitted until February 12, 2021. Go to https://tinyurl.com/AMPenrollmentprocess for more information. Scholarship Opportunities Baumberger Endowment Scholarship Deadline: February 15, 2021 The Baumberger Endowment Scholarship application opens on December 1, 2020. Please review the brochure attached to this post. Scholarship Requirements: An applicant must: 1) be a graduating senior (Class of 2021) of an accredited (TEA) high school within Bexar County, Texas. 2) have resided in Texas for at least ten (10) years. 3) DUE TO COVID, NO SAT/ACT SCORES ARE REQUIRED FOR 2021 GRADUATING SENIORS. 4) rank in the upper one-half of high school graduating class. 5) be unable to attend college without financial assistance. 6) plan to attend a state-supported or non-denominational college or university within the state of Texas. 7) be of good character. An applicant who does not meet all eligibility requirements will be unable to proceed past the online eligibility phase. If all of the above criteria are met, the applicant must register at www.baumbergerendowment.com and complete the online application through the Baumberger Endowment portal. Bexar Agriculture/Natural Resource Committee Scholarships Deadline: March 15, 2021 The Bexar Agriculture/Natural Resource Committee is awarding $1,000 to graduating Seniors that reside or attend school in Bexar County and will be pursuing an agriculture-related degree at the college or university level after high school graduation. Attached to this post is an information flier and application for the scholarship. Texas Tech University - San Antonio Livestock Exposition Agricultural Education Scholarship Deadline: December 1, 2020 This scholarship opportunity is for graduating Seniors majoring in Agricultural Education with Teacher Certification at Texas Tech University beginning in the 2021-2022 academic year. Graduating Seniors must be from a public or private school from one of the following counties: Atascosa, Bandera, Bexar, Comal, Guadalupe, Kendall, Medina, or Wilson. Graduating Seniors must apply to Texas Tech University through ApplyTexas or CommonApp by December 1, 2020 and be admitted to Texas Tech University by January 15, 2021. Applicants must be majoring in Agricultural Education with Teacher Certification to be eligible for the scholarship. Students awarded the scholarship may receive up to $15,000 over 4 years of study at Texas Tech University ($1,875 per semester) for majoring in Agricultural Education with Teacher Certification. Department of Soil & Crop Sciences at Texas A&M University Deadline: January 1, 2021 The Department of Soil & Crop Sciences at Texas A&M University is awarding $16,000 scholarships to incoming freshmen and $8000 scholarships to transfer students. The deadline for the application is January 1, 2021. Please find the application at this link: http://soilcrop.tamu.edu/academics/undergraduate-programs/scholarships/ Texas Farm Credit Scholarship Program Deadline: January 8, 2021 To qualify, an applicant must be a high school senior, be a member of FFA or 4-H, plan to pursue an agriculture-related college degree, submit a current high school transcript, resume, and essay (prompt at link above). Click the link above in the title for further details. National FFA Scholarship Program Deadline: January 14, 2021 The National FFA Scholarship Program application opens Nov. 1. Whether students are planning on attending a specialized training program or seeking a four-year degree, the National FFA Scholarship Program has opportunities for all. Scholarships support FFA high school seniors and collegiate members as well as non-FFA students. Just one application is required for multiple scholarship opportunities totaling close to $2 million dollars. Everything students need to successfully complete the application can be found on the scholarship website. This year, we are also including how-to videos to assist students in completing the application and advisors on validating the student’s application. It is imperative that students “white list” emails that will come from our scholarship partner ISTS. Here is a document to walk you through how to ensure you receive the communication around the scholarship program. The scholarship application closes on Jan. 14, 2021.
